TONY STEWART-TED CHRISTOPHER MATCH RACE TICKETS GO ON SALE ON MONDAY, JUNE 3, 2002.

THOMPSON, CT.  Tickets for the Tony Stewart-Ted Christopher Match Race will go on sale at the Thompson Int'l Speedway track office on Monday, June 3, 2002. Fans, who have been seeking ticket information, will be able to call the speedway office and order tickets for this very special night of competition and fun on July 17th.

NASCAR Winston Cup Series star Tony Stewart will be on hand at the Thompson Int'l Speedway on Wednesday, July 17th to compete in a match race with the 2001 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series National Champion, Ted Christopher.

Even though these drivers currently compete in totally different circles, the two met back in 1997 at New Smyrna Beach Speedway in Florida. They competed against each other in that nine consecutive night series and developed quite a rivalry in the process. The Thompson Match race on July 17th may put that rivalry to bed once and for all or it may simply fuel the flames between these two tough competitors.

Tickets are priced at $25.00 for adults. Youngsters between the ages of 8 and 15 get in for just $10.00 and those seven years of age and younger will be admitted free of charge. An autograph session will follow the twenty-lap match race. Race fans wishing to order a picture to be autographed will be able to do so at an additional charge of $10.00 per photo. The pictures will be mailed along with the admission tickets and it must be brought to the track on the night of the event. Only fans with photos will be allowed into the line for autographs. Just as Thompson Int'l Speedway did last year, proceeds from the sale of these photos will go to Racing Against Cancer. In 2001, following the appearance of Winston Cup drivers Steve Park and Michael Waltrip, Thompson Int'l Speedway was able to donate five thousand dollars to RAC. It is hoped that another generous donation can be made following the appearance of Tony Stewart.
